Learn How to Franchise with Jack in the Box in Mexico
Jack in the Box Goes to Mexico
In 2023, Jack in the Box signed a development agreement for 22 units with four Northern Mexican States. This was our first franchise agreement in Mexico in more than three decades. We couldn't be more excited to bring our craveable 24/7 menu to the people of Mexico, and you can see their excitement from our grand opening in Chihuahua, MX.
Who We're Looking For
When it comes to Mexico, we're looking for an experienced multi-unit franchise operator preferably with experience in the quick-service restaurant (QSR) industry. In this video, we'll go into more detail about the specific type of individual or group we're looking for - along with our strategic plan to grow via franchising in the Mexican market.
Hello. My name is Van Ingram. I'm vice president of franchise development for Jack in the Box restaurants. We've recently reentered the country of Mexico, and we've been very excited with the success we've experienced. And so this excitement has led to other people inquiring about becoming franchisees within our system. So I want to put together this video to explain to you some of the key considerations we have as part of our strategic plan for developing in Mexico. Also start to answer some of the initial questions a lot of people will typically ask as they consider a new franchise opportunity. So the first key question a lot of people ask is what territory is available. And so it's probably easier if I talk about the areas that are not available. We've been very fortunate and we've entered into development agreements for six states within Mexico. The states where we have exclusive development territories include Baja California, Baja California SIR, Tamaulipas, Coahuila, Chihuahua, and Nuevo Leon. Those areas are under a current development agreement and would not be available for new expansion. Now let's talk about the areas we can grow in or really what is what does it take to become a franchisee? I'm gonna go through our requirements. They're very specific and candidly, they're gonna be very difficult to meet. It's gonna take a certain care, candidate and someone that meets our requirements to be able to move through our process. Specifically, we're looking for someone that already owns and operates a significant portfolio of restaurants or retail outlets in the country. We're looking for someone that can handle their own distribution. And by this, this, I mean, picking up our product from a distribution center in the US, taking it across the border, warehousing it into distributing it to your own individual units within the country. And then finally, our financial requirements are the group, which is typically going to be a partnership, has to have at least two point five million dollars in liquid funds available for investment. And that's because we are going to require a multi unit development agreement. Now I know these requirements are very difficult to meet. So if you're a customer of Jack in the Box just visiting this, website and learning about Jack in the Box, thank you for being a customer and enjoy going to our restaurants. If you're a franchise candidate, please review and think about your ability to meet the requirements that I just described. If you do believe you meet those requirements, we can, of course, continue the conversation. If not, thank you for your interest, and we look forward to seeing you at one of our restaurants soon. Thank you.
