A Brand Already Here
Jack in the Box restaurants are open and operating in the Orlando area and Tallahassee today, and more Florida locations are in development.
Our development team is awarding markets across the Orlando, Jacksonville, and Gainesville DMAs. That covers the I-4 corridor from Daytona Beach through greater Orlando, the Space Coast, the I-75 stretch from Ocala to Gainesville, and metro Jacksonville down through St. Augustine. Tallahassee already has an operating franchisee developing that market, and we are not awarding the Tampa DMA or South Florida at this time. We review every market for population, traffic patterns, and site availability before we award territory.
Orlando
Our first open Florida restaurant sits just north of the city in Longwood, and greater Orlando is where our Florida pipeline runs deepest. Read our full Orlando market breakdown.
Lake Mary
Seminole County's stretch of I-4 and SR 417, minutes from our open Longwood restaurant.
Kissimmee / St. Cloud
Osceola County and the US 192 corridor, where tourist traffic and new rooftops share the same arterials.
Daytona / Deltona
Volusia County, anchored by the junction of I-4 and I-95. Beach traffic, race weeks, and year-round commuters.
Palm Bay / Melbourne
The Space Coast along I-95 in Brevard County, tied to the aerospace corridor and the beaches.
Ocala
The I-75 midpoint between Gainesville and Orlando, a pass-through for both freight and commuters.
Jacksonville
Florida's most populous city, sitting at the crossing of I-95 and I-10 with a deep port and logistics economy.
St. Augustine
St. Johns County along I-95 and US 1, between Jacksonville and Palm Coast, with heavy visitor traffic year round.
Gainesville
Home of the University of Florida, on I-75 with its own DMA and a steady college-town rhythm.

Is Jack in the Box Actually Growing in Florida Right Now?
Yes, and you do not have to take my word for it. I work on the franchise development team, and my name is listed as the development contact on the announcement that brought this brand back to Florida. Here is the verifiable activity as of July 2026.
- Jack in the Box signed its first Florida franchise agreements in March 2023, the brand's first step back into the state in more than 30 years.
- In June 2024, the company announced continued Florida expansion with new franchise commitments in Tallahassee and Orlando.
- Our first Florida restaurant in decades opened in Longwood on February 19, 2026. Local coverage documented lines out the door on opening weekend, both inside and in the drive-thru.
- Tallahassee followed within days. The Capital Circle NE restaurant opened in late February and held its grand opening in March 2026. It runs 24 hours.
- More Florida locations are in development, and I keep a running account of openings and pipeline on our Florida expansion update.
- Our development focus right now is the Orlando, Jacksonville, and Gainesville DMAs. We are not awarding the Tampa DMA or South Florida at this time.
- We evaluate every market before we award it, and we talk with operators one market at a time. Here is how our process works.
Why Is Florida a Strong State for a Restaurant Franchise?
Florida pairs fast population growth with a very large restaurant economy and an interstate network that feeds drive-thru traffic. The state posted its highest real GDP on record in the first quarter of 2026, and its restaurant industry supports more than one million jobs. Those are the baseline conditions. What we review next is specific to each trade area.
Start with the people. The Census Bureau put Florida's population at 23,462,518 as of July 2025, up 8.9 percent from April 2020, with about 197,000 residents added in the most recent year alone. Median household income statewide was $77,735 in the 2024 American Community Survey.
The economy holds up under the same scrutiny. Florida's real GDP ran at a $1.41 trillion annual rate in the first quarter of 2026, the highest on record and up 2.4 percent from a year earlier. Then add the visitors. Florida counted a record 143.3 million visitors in 2025, per preliminary Visit Florida estimates. Tourists eat on the road and residents commute year round. Our full menu is available all day, our restaurants are built around the drive-thru, and that behavior is what our current store models are designed for.
The restaurant sector itself is large and established here. The National Restaurant Association projects Florida's eating and drinking places will generate $112.24 billion in direct output and support 1,051,032 jobs in 2025, with limited-service restaurants accounting for $42.79 billion of that output.
Then there is the road network. I-95 runs the Atlantic coast from Jacksonville through Daytona Beach and Palm Bay. I-4 crosses the state through Orlando. I-75 links Gainesville and Ocala to the Gulf coast and the Midwest, I-10 ties Jacksonville to Tallahassee, and Florida's Turnpike threads the middle of the peninsula. High-visibility interstate corridors are exactly the site profile we look for.
