At Jack in the Box, we incentivize growth in new markets by offering development incentives to qualified multi-unit investors. In this quick video, We'll take a look at everything you need to know about our franchise incentives. Jack in the Box franchise incentives are available to multi-unit franchisees who sign up for three or more stores on a development agreement. We offer qualifying multi unit investors two different incentive options. Option A) is a tiered royalty. The royalty, which is currently five percent of gross sales, will be will be reduced to one percent of sales for the first year. Two percent of gross sales for the second year. Three percent of gross sales for the third, four percent of gross sales for your fourth year, and five percent of gross sales for all subsequent years. The second option is if you open a restaurant, on or before the required date in the development schedule, we will loan you one hundred and fifty thousand dollars at zero percent interest to be used solely for the development cost associated with that restaurant. The loan will be repaid by crediting one hundred percent of the royalty payments for that restaurant until the loan is paid in full. Your payments will be made by crediting the appropriate portion of royalty payments toward the principal balance that is outstanding off of the hundred and fifty thousand dollar loan. If the particular restaurant is sold or permanently closes, and the loan has not been fully repaid, the remaining principal will be due in full. We hope this video has given you a better understanding of our two options for franchise incentives here at Jack in the Box. Hey. Have you heard the news? The IFA recently released their 2025 Franchising Economic Outlook, and it's filled with a ton of interesting data. And one of the most interesting datasets that we found was the top ten states for franchise growth from this year. So in this video, we're gonna take a deep dive into this data and show you how you can take advantage of these franchise opportunities with Jack in the Box. So stay tuned. Alright. So today, we have Van Ingram, our vice president of franchise development at Jack in the Box. We have Mike Wooten and Dustin Thompson. Both are directors of franchise development with Jack. And today, we're gonna be breaking down the top ten states for franchise growth in 2025 and show you how our prime white space availability gives you a pretty good opportunity to grow in these states. Let's, kick it to Van Ingram. He's gonna go over the regional trends for franchising in twenty twenty five. Thanks, John. So FranData is one of the key industry sources that tracks the franchising industry, and they forecasted that the Southeast and the Southwest regions are gonna continue to lead in terms of new franchise establishments, as John said, in employment and then output, overall output for the United States. And I think you could probably guess some of these states where they have business friendly policies in place, dramatic, population growth. People are relocating to these areas. So when you hear, the top ten, again, I think it's not gonna be a big surprise to a lot of people. As it stands right now, the top ten fastest growing states for franchise growth are listed as Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Arizona, Florida, of course, is one of the top, and then Colorado and Maryland. And these states are expected to add an additional 285,000 franchise units, three million jobs and over three hundred billion dollars in output in 2025 alone. So let's break down the projections, the growth opportunity, and then we're gonna get into how many locations we've targeted for each of these states to talk to you about the white space opportunity that exists for Jack in the Box. With that, I'm gonna turn it over to Georgia, excuse me, to Dustin to talk about Georgia. Yeah. Thanks, Van. Obviously, you know, there's a lot of growth here in the state of Georgia. I'm from Georgia, so obviously I'm a little partial there. Maybe a little biased, but, Georgia is a phenomenal state for fast food. It's one of the franchise capitals of the United States. So it makes sense for us to be here amongst a lot of the competition within the industry. Now in Georgia specifically, we've identified about two hundred and forty six different market points, that are open for development. Georgia has an expected growth rate for franchise establishments of around three point three percent. And right now, the exciting news is Georgia has, fifteen commitments, currently across the central and southeastern part of the state with Augusta, Macon, and Savannah being on or currently under development with the franchisee. So with that, I'm gonna go up to one of the neighbors, to the northeast and pass it to, Mike for North Carolina. Yeah. Thanks, Dustin. North Carolina is my home. I live here and, certainly think there's a lot of opportunity for Jack to continue to grow here in the great state of North Carolina. North Carolina is ultra hot with the franchise industry. It's projected to have about a five and a half percent growth rate in franchise units here in the state. So there's a lot of opportunity with the amount of people that are moving into this state and the way some of our markets are growing. We have a great kind of footprint already set up in Charlotte with eighteen, operating Jack in the Box restaurants currently. There's an additional fourteen commitments for additional units to be built here in the Charlotte market, but that by no means slows you down from coming in and building some restaurants here in North Carolina. We have recognized an additional two hundred and eighteen opportunities around the state in great markets like Raleigh, Greensboro, even over the eastern half of the state toward Wilmington and Greenville, North Carolina. So there's a ton of opportunity in North Carolina. East to west, north to south, there's opportunities here to build some great Jack restaurants. We're gonna go slightly north up to Virginia, and I'm gonna throw it over to Van. He's gonna talk a little bit about the state of Virginia. Perfect, Mike. Thanks. So, Mike's a North Carolina guy. I'm a Virginia guy. I grew up in Roanoke, Virginia. I went to Virginia Tech, and, it's something I'd really like to do as a personal goal is to bring Jack in the Box to my home state of Virginia. It's a great opportunity. You know, the population growth in Virginia continues to grow. You have major metropolitan areas, the DC area, Richmond, the Tidewater, Chesapeake area, and then southwestern Virginia where I'm from. So when we look at the state of Virginia, we've designated over two hundred opportunities that we think it makes sense to develop a new Jack in the Box location. As it stands right now, there are about twenty three thousand franchise establishments in the state of Virginia. That's gonna grow by another two and a half percent. So it'll be somewhere north of, twenty what is that number? Puts us around twenty four thousand opportunities or franchise opportunities in Virginia. We'd like to be a part of that. Help me take my brand that I represent back to my home state. Now that I've talked about Virginia, let's let Dustin tell us a little bit about the... Excuse me. Let's let Mike tell us a little bit more about the Arizona opportunity. Yeah. Thanks, Van. Arizona, another hot growth state for franchising, two point six percent, franchise growth in the state. Tons of people moving into Arizona. We're in a little bit of a different scenario in Arizona. We are currently operating most of the state, but there are opportunities in Arizona and some of the edge markets. We've got about eleven additional opportunities to join, Jack in the Box in Arizona. But the opportunity is there to get into a market that is fully, operational running, and you can get in when the engine's already revving up in Arizona. So a little bit different than some of the southeastern markets, but still we do have some opportunities. I'm gonna throw it back over to Dustin, and Dustin's gonna talk with us a little bit about South Carolina. Yeah. Thanks, Mike. Yeah. So South Carolina, as we're seeing the trends, with the southeast is obviously growing. And currently, Jack in the Box has eight open stores across the state of South Carolina, but we have a plethora of opportunities still left for development. Right now, there's one hundred and four Jack in the Box market points that we've identified. And the state of South Carolina is looking at a two point seven percent expected franchise growth rate over the next year or so based on the data that we've seen. So, again, South Carolina is a phenomenal market. Let's talk about another great market. Van, walk us through Pennsylvania and what you're seeing up there. Sure. So Pennsylvania is an opportunity market. We currently don't have any Jack in the Box locations in the great state of Pennsylvania, but we look at the growth potential in Pennsylvania. The major metro areas continue to grow, but then those secondary areas continue to grow as well. So we've targeted almost three hundred opportunities in the state of Pennsylvania, and we'd love to have someone who wants to go up there where we have white space availability, someone that wants to be a pioneer and take our brand to Pennsylvania. Now that I've talked about Pennsylvania a little bit, let's go to another market where we do have a presence. Dustin's gonna tell us a little bit more about Tennessee. Yeah. Tennessee, again, another southeast market as we see the trend here of the southeast states. Currently, we do have four open stores within the state of Tennessee. We have sixteen commitments for future stores within the state. You know, expect a growth rate three point two percent over the next year with franchise, growth rate again across the state, you know, in over one hundred and twenty market points that we've identified. So there's a lot of opportunity, within the state of Tennessee when you whether you're looking at Nashville, Knoxville, Memphis. There's a lot of great opportunity, across the board there. And I'm gonna hand it off, to Van to walk us through, the sunny state of Florida. Sure. Thanks, Dustin. So Florida, as you would expect, is one of the fastest growing markets in the entire US. It's been the, darling as far as population growth over the last few years. And when people relocate to an area, of course, the opportunity to grow and expand with franchising makes a lot of sense. Believe it or not, in the state of Florida, there are sixty two thousand franchise establishments already. But when you look at the population stats, the population growth, the migration patterns or immigration patterns that people are following, it really is a great growth opportunity. As it stands right now, we have twenty seven commitments for new units in Florida, and we'll be opening our first couple of units in that state over the next, six to nine months. So we will have a presence in Florida. People are gonna recognize the brand. That's the beauty of Jack in the Box, a seventy year brand, an iconic brand that we can go into the state of Florida where we don't have locations currently, and we feel very confident about this opportunity. So when we look at Florida, it's one of our top growth markets within the Jack in the Box system. So now we've hit Florida. Let's hit our final state from the top ten. And, again, FranData ranked these as the top ten states for places where franchise growth will continue for the next couple of years. Let's finish up with Colorado. Yeah. Thank you, Van. Colorado, another interesting opportunity in that top ten. Still with a strong growth rate of two point five percent on on franchise growth rate for, projected for twenty twenty five. We are currently in Colorado with eighteen open restaurants. What I love about the state of Colorado is the connection back to our core bases in California. There's a lot of connectivity between folks that are traveling back and forth between Colorado and California. People are going to know the brand, and then we have a presence there with eighteen restaurants. The beauty of Colorado is there's opportunity for quite a few more. We've projected another eighty three restaurants could be built in the state of Colorado. You've got great opportunities in markets like Lakewood, Aurora, Colorado Springs, Boulder. There's a lot of opportunity for someone to come in and build a successful business in the state of Colorado. So that finishes our list of some of the great states that we can grow with. And, I'm gonna turn it over to Dustin, and he's gonna pull this all together for us. Yeah. I think the key thing to take away from this video is that when you're looking at some of the hottest markets, you know, in the United States, Jack in the Box has plenty of white space availability. Whether you're an existing franchisee or a multi unit franchisee or you're looking to get into franchising for the first time, white space availability is extremely important, and Jack in the Box has that. We're an established brand at over seventy years old. We're the burger joint famous for its tacos, and we're looking for franchisees to grow in these markets. So if you're looking to grow, Jack in the Box has you covered in these markets, and we're gonna go ahead and take it away from there. Hey. That was a lot of great information. Thank you guys for sharing. And if you're ready to get started with Jack in the Box or you have a few more questions, just simply fill out any form on our website and a member of our team, maybe one of the people you saw in this video, will be in touch. Thanks for watching, and I hope you have a great day.
Are you looking for the most popular reasons to buy a Jack in the Box franchise? My name is John, and in today's video, we're going to talk about five of the most popular reasons to buy Jack in the Box franchise. So stay tuned. Alright. So first off, let's talk about our 24/7 menu at Jack in the Box. This means you can get anything at any time, day or night doesn't matter. No cutoff at 10:30AM for breakfast or anything like that. And this is really something to consider because at Jack in the Box where most brands have one two or three day parts, we offer five. So breakfast, lunch, dinner, late night, snacking and everything in between. So this really sets us apart as a competitive advantage because You know, maybe dad doesn't want a salad or the kids don't want tacos or, you know, mom wants a cheeseburger. You know, everyone can find something on the menu they're happy with. So this is really something to consider that sets us apart from all the other brands in the QSR industry. Alright. So next, let's talk about the prime real estate that we have available at Jack in the Box. Right now, we have about 2,100 locations throughout the United States. And as a franchisee, this presents you with a great opportunity to build and grow in some of the most exciting markets in the United States. Another big reason to consider is our average unit volume. At Jack in the Box, our AUV or average unit volume is $1.8 million dollars. And what this tells you is about how much our average store brings in each year. And, a lot of factors can go into that number, but it's an important number for you to consider as a franchise investor moving forward. So another huge reason to consider Jack in the Box is our awesome training and that we provide, whether it's finding a location to build, our real estate department, helping you get everything you need, the construction, and then also training your employees and then marketing, getting customers to your stores, and all the awesome digital advertising, and cool stuff that we do from that standpoint. And this is really one of the best parts about being a franchisee with Jack, is we're there for you, and we're here to stand behind you and help you be as successful as possible. Alright. So, lastly, let's talk about our franchise incentives that we have at Jack in the Box. These are geared towards multi-unit developers who open three or more stores. And what we do is we offer either a royalty reduction, or you have the option of picking a $150,000 dollar loan at zero percent. And, you know, both of these incentives are designed to help you in those beginning years, and, helps us grow. So it's a win win for both teams. Are you looking for a list of the best franchise opportunities to start in this year? My name is John, and I work in franchise development for Jack in the Box. And we understand it can be kind of hard to decide which franchise opportunity is the best for you, especially when there's so many great options to choose from. So in this video, we're gonna talk about twenty of the best franchises to start in no particular order. Alright. So let's get started. First off, let's talk about Jack in the Box. We simply had put ourselves on this list because of our innovative menu, the flexible restaurant designs we have, like the one you see behind me here, and the prime US markets that are available for franchise expansion. So Jack in the Box, you're probably familiar with our large and distinctive menu. It's 24/7 with five day parts. That's breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacking, and late night. And, you, you know, one other thing that really stands out about us is we're a brand that's been around for a long time. And we still have prime US markets. So across the United States, big cities that are still available for multi unit expansion. So this presents a really big opportunity for investors that are trying to grow with a brand in some of the most exciting markets around the United States. Alright. So let's talk about McDonald's. They're gonna be one of the most well known QSR franchises in the world. It's hard to find anyone who isn't familiar with their "I'm Lovin It" advertising campaign, and they currently have more than thirty eight thousand locations in over a hundred different countries. Now approximately 93% of their restaurants are owned and operated by independent local business owners. However, one thing you need to keep in mind is the availability of restaurants in specific areas will be uncertain until you've completed your training. So you may be required to relocate to wherever your nearest restaurant opportunity is. Next up, let's talk about Dunkin. So for more than seventy years, Dunkin has been one of the top coffee and baked goods franchises in the United States. It only took five years after Bill Rosenburg opened their first location in Quincy, Massachusetts. For Dunkin to begin expanding their footprint within franchising. Today, they have more than eleven thousand locations worldwide, with over eighty five hundred of those restaurants in the United States. The UPS Store, they're one of the more unique franchises you'll see on this list because they offer a variety of different products and services that are designed to support small business owners. So aside from packing and shipping, they also provide printing services, mailboxes, and direct mail services to the local community. So today, there are more than five thousand UPS Stores across the US, and California They have eight hundred and fifty plus. And that's gonna be the state with the most locations. Alright. So Taco Bell is gonna be one of the most well known QSR franchise is especially in the Taco World. In nineteen sixty two, their first location opened in Downey, California. And in the United States, Taco Bell and their franchisees operate over seven thousand two hundred restaurants, and they serve about forty million customers each week. So this makes Taco Bell the largest Mexican QSR concept in the world when it comes to their total number of restaurants. Their brand is growing domestically and internationally with more than a thousand restaurants located in thirty countries across the globe. Okay. So Chick fil A, they were founded by Truett Cathy in Hapeville, Georgia. It's one of the most successful fast food restaurants in America, and there are more than twenty eight hundred of those restaurants in the United States. The most are gonna be in Texas with four hundred fifty six. So today, they're currently seeking hands on franchisee candidates in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada, to own and operate their own quick service restaurant. So Del Taco is known for their authentic Tex Mex ingredients freshly prepared menu and franchise opportunities in existing and untapped markets. In two thousand twenty two, Del Taco was purchased by Jack in the Box, and they've grown to more than five hundred ninety locations in more than fifteen states. Their menu includes tacos, burritos, nachos, and other Tex Max favorites. Along with their 100% beef burgers and crinkle cut fries. But they do take things a step further. They have house grated cheddar cheese, slow cooked beans that are made from scratch, house made pico, freshly grilled chicken, freshly house made guacamole, and all their carne assada steak is marinated and then freshly grilled. So that's one of the reasons they've grown into what's the second largest brand in the Mexican QSR category especially by units, and they're aggressively expanding across the US, and they're currently seeking multi unit restaurant operators. So Anytime Fitness, they have locations all seven continents with more than forty seven hundred territories and four million members worldwide. So this twenty four hour fitness franchise, you've probably seen and they offer their members access to five thousand gyms with personalized plans and group training classes. They're looking for hard working people who are interested in joining their franchise network in America and across the globe. Alright. So, Zaxby's has seen a large amount of growth due to success with their chicken fingers, chicken wings, chicken sandwiches, and chicken salads. They have more than nine hundred locations, in eighteen different states, and the majority of them are going to be in the Southeast United States. Their headquarters is in Atlanta, and they're currently looking for franchisees to expand their restaurants into new territories. Alright. Next up is Whataburger. The story of Whataburger began at a twenty four hour stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, seventy years later, they've grown to eight hundred ninety locations, and their original idea was to just serve a burger so big. It took two hands to hold, and so good that caused the customer to exclaim "What a burger!" after their first bite. So Whataburger, they were family owned, until their recent acquisition by an investment company, and this has allowed more franchisees to open up into new markets. Alright. Next up is Culvers. Culvers is a popular burger franchise known for their frozen custard, butter burgers, and cheese curds. I recently had one. It was pretty good. And since nineteen eighty four, they've been growing their first location in Sauk City, Wisconsin. They have more than eight hundred restaurants in twenty five different states. And they're looking for owner operators with the skills to take a team of people and operate a Culver's according to their high standards. Alright. Wingstop. Wingstop specializes in chicken wings, chicken tenders, along with eleven different sauces like lemon pepper, hickory smoked barbecue, hot, mango habanero, and, of course, atomic. And their menu includes a variety of classic wings, boneless wings, and fries, along with your choice of dipping sauces. They currently have sixteen hundred locations around the world and the majority of them are in Texas, California, and Florida. Alright. Next up, let's talk about Wendy's. So in nineteen sixty nine, Dave Thomas opened the first Wendy's in Columbus, Ohio and it didn't take long before they became famous for their square beef patties, and of course the frosty desserts. Today, they operate seven thousand restaurants worldwide and they're looking for new and diverse franchisees to join their team. They have a variety of limited and available markets throughout the US. So Hampton Inn & Suites, they're one of the most well known hotel franchises in the US. Guests at Hampton Inn can have a free breakfast, enjoy fresh coffee, discounted rates, meeting rooms, internet access, gym facilities, and their franchise has more than twenty two locations across the US. There's fifty in Canada and two fifty international. Alright. So Ace Hardware, In nineteen twenty four, the history of Ace Hardware began when four hardware shop owners joined together to start Ace Stores Incorporated. This hardware franchise has grown to be a favorite with local shoppers even when compared to the Big Box National chains. Ace Hardware has more than sixty two million ace rewards members, and they're looking for new franchisees to expand their footprint across the US. So McCallister's Deli offers hearty sandwiches and sides with Southern hospitality and friendly conversation. In nineteen eighty nine, a dentist in Oxford, Mississippi with a dream turned a nineteen fifty Diner movie set into what would become the first McCallister's deli. Today, they're looking for franchisees who want to help create connections between their brand and the communities they serve. So here's one you may have not known as a franchise, The Goddard School, So with more than thirty years of expertise in childhood development, The Goddard School is one of the top child care child care franchises in the US. Their preschool franchise offers innovative and academically endorsed methods for children to have fun while still learning the skills they need for long term success. Today, there are over six hundred Goddard Schools, and they're located in thirty eight states with potential sites available to prospective franchisees in a variety of areas. So Freddie's similar to Culver's is a nostalgic fast casual restaurant with cooked to order steak burgers, hot dogs, frozen custard, and fries. They are one of the fastest growing franchises in the United States with around four hundred locations. And currently they offer exclusive territories that are available across the US along with international opportunities. Alright. Next up is Moe's. They're a fast casual Mexican restaurant that was founded in Atlanta, Georgia by Raving Brands. And the Moe's menu is known for burritos, bowls, tacos, quesadillas, nachos, and salads, and they even offer taco meal kits that can feed four to six people. So they're looking for franchise owners interested in building a loyal following in their market while embracing their own independent spirit. Alright, KFC, formerly known as Kentucky Fried Chicken, was founded by Harlan "Colonel" Sanders in nineteen thirty. They began franchising a few years later in nineteen fifty two. Since then, they've grown their chicken franchise to more than twenty five thousand locations across the world. And a lot of their growth comes from outside the United States. So close to ninety nine percent of their chicken restaurants are franchised, and they bring in roughly four point six billion in US sales each year. We hope this video with the best franchises to start from this year gave you a better understanding and helped you narrow down your search. At Jack in the Box, we're looking for multi-unit investors who are excited to bring our craveable twenty four seven menu to new markets across the country. If you're new to the franchising industry, you may be wondering what does average unit volume mean? My name is John, and I work at Jack in the Box. In today's video, we're gonna take a look at what average unit volume or AUV stands for and where you can learn more about it. Alright. So what does average unit volume mean? In franchising, average unit volume is calculated by dividing the total annual sales of company owned and or franchise units, divided by the number of company owned and or franchise units. So why is average unit volume important? This metric gives potential new franchisees the ability to review current performance and compare one brand in the same sector to another. So potential franchisees can use AUV. To assess the hypothetical profitability of their investment and then help them find the best franchise opportunity for their needs. So now you may be wondering, is AUV the same thing as profitability? The short answer is no. Based upon Federal Trade Commission guidelines. All franchisors are precluded from providing earnings estimates or profit potential to franchisees. However, you can get an idea of the annual revenue by referencing item nineteen or the financial performance representation in the franchise disclosure document. This will typically include a chart with previous sales and text with more information about where the data came from, And, it's just really important for you to understand every brand calculates their AUV differently. So be sure to check the footnotes underneath the item nineteen table and that'll give you a little more information about where those numbers came from. Alright. So now you're probably wondering what's our average unit volume at Jack in the Box And at Jack in the Box in 2023, our AUV is $1.8 eight million dollars. And you can find more information about this number in item nineteen of our franchise disclosure document, and just reach out to us, send us a contact form on any page of this website, and we'll get that document to you. Hope this video gave you a better understanding of what average unit volume is, why it's important, and where you can learn more about it. At Jack in the Box, we work with our franchisees every step of the way in order to get their restaurants up and running. If you have any questions, or you're ready to get started, just fill out any form on our franchising website, and we'll be in touch. Thanks, and have a great day.
Are you interested in learning about the history of Jack in the Box? Jack in the Box has always been a place for those who live outside of the box. Where you can try new things and order what you want when you want it. In this video, I'm gonna tell you a little bit about the history of Jack in the Box and what makes us different. My name is Kim Thompson, and I'm the director of franchise development here with Jack in the Box. Let's get started all the way back to when we first started. Jack in the Box was founded in 1951. And right from the beginning, we developed a very loyal customer base. Our name came from our very innovative design, where we actually had a clown hanging out of the roof hence the name Jack in the Box. We were the first restaurant that invented and had the drive-through, and we were the first brand to offer breakfast all day long. Also, you can get any menu item any time of the day. So if you want breakfast for dinner, week got you. If you want dinner for breakfast, we can do that too. Maybe you just want a late night snack in the middle of the night. We got that as well. We serve all five day parts, so we serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, late night, and snacks. And our menu item variety is available to you twenty four hours seven days a week. You can also use a drive-through because it is mandatory for every single restaurant to have a drive-through. So folks don't have to get out of their car if it's cold. They can still use the drive through and go through and get any item, any time of the day. Our menu is what really sets us apart. We have bold flavors. We have variety. We're authentic. While our burgers still remain our number one selling item, our tacos have been huge as well. We get a lot of folks that tell us back in their college days they would go eat tons of those tacos, and now they're big fans of Jack in the Box still to this day. Our shakes are phenomenal. Our egg rolls are great. And if maybe you just want something a little bit healthier, we've got these amazing teriyaki bowls or pitas. So huge variety of menu items from breakfast food to salads to burgers, and that's really what sets us apart here at Jack in the Box. I hope you have an amazing day, and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
How much does it cost to open a Jack in the Box franchise? Hi. My name is Dustin, and I'm a member of our franchise development team here at Jack in the Box. In this video, I'm gonna answer that question as well as several other key aspects of owning a Jack in the Box franchise, such as what are the Jack in the Box franchise royalties? What is the Jack in the Box franchise fee? What is the estimated initial investment of owning a Jack in the Box? Does Jack in the Box offer any incentives? And what does it take to get started with Jack in the Box? We've got a busy video and a lot to cover. So let's go ahead and get started. So getting started, the first thing we're gonna cover is our franchise fee here at Jack in the Box. Our traditional franchise fee is fifty thousand dollars for each franchise location. The notable exception to this is for non traditional locations, and that franchise fee is twenty five thousand per location. If you have a question about what makes a location nontraditional or traditional, a member of our sales team will kind of walk you through that and help you understand the difference and how we define a traditional and non traditional location here at Jack in the Box. Another important thing to note is that franchise fees are only paid once. They're paid when you sign your development agreement or your franchise agreement they last for the term of the agreement which at Jack in the Box is twenty years. The second thing we're gonna cover is our Jack in the Box franchise royalties. We have a marketing fee of five percent of gross sales, and we also have a royalty that is also five percent of gross sales. Continuing along, our third thing that we're going to cover is the estimated initial investment of a Jack in the Box franchise. Now keep in mind, you could find this broken down within the item seven of our franchise disclosure document. And at the end of this video, you'll have an opportunity to inquire and speak to a member of our franchise development team, and we can send you a copy you the FDD or franchise disclosure document, if you'd like to see these items broken down. But the estimated initial investment of a Jack in the Box franchise is one point eight million to two point eight million. And this does exclude land cost, financing, and other certain costs of doing business. The fourth thing we're gonna cover in this video is franchise incentives and yes Jack in the Box does offer franchise incentives. Now these incentives are only available to those signing up for at least three or more locations, within their development agreement. Now we give you two options for your franchise incentives. Option a is a tiered franchise royalty. So earlier in the video, I mentioned that our royalty is five percent. Well, option a, we reduce that five percent to one percent royalty in year one, two percent in year two, three percent in year three, four percent in year four, and then in year five, it returns to five percent for the remainder of the term of your franchise agreement. Option b, is a one hundred and fifty thousand dollar interest free loan that goes towards the development of your Jack in the Box franchise. Now, the terms of this can be seen on this page and it can can be also found within our franchise disclosure document. The next thing we're going to cover are the financial requirements to become a Jack in the Box franchisee. We look for our potential franchisees to have access to a minimum of five hundred thousand in liquidity and one point five million in net worth. And there are multiple potential sources of liquidity that we look for, things such as cash, stocks, bonds, utilizing a part of your home equity or even a 401k rollover. And it's also very common to see people pull together resources and go in via partnerships. Another potential franchise incentive is our veteran incentive. Jack in the Box partners with VetFran, and we offer twenty five percent off the initial franchise fee for your first store That's twelve thousand five hundred off the franchise fee. Which would bring down your fifty thousand dollar franchise fee for store one to thirty seven thousand five hundred. I hope this video was helpful for you in understanding what it takes to open a Jack in the Box and what are the costs involved with opening a Jack in the Box franchise. If you're ready to take the next step, Please complete the form at the top of this page and a member of our development team will reach out to you directly. I hope you have a wonderful day. When looking to buy a Jack in the Box franchise, there are often many questions around what types of sites Jack in the Box is looking for. What are some of the requirements of the sites that we're evaluating? And the type of venues Jack in the Box is willing to grow in? Well, in this video, we're gonna cover all of those things as well as the support we provide you for both real estate and construction. So stay tuned. The first thing we're gonna be looking for is land size. To build a Jack in the Box, you're gonna need at least twenty five thousand square feet or greater of property to accommodate our building. Keep in mind, we have buildings that range in size from one thousand three hundred fifty square feet that are drive through only, all the way up to two thousand four hundred square feet that have dining inside. The next characteristic we're gonna be looking at is population. We're gonna be looking that within a one mile radius of the preferred side we see at least ten thousand people living in that area. The next characteristic we are going to be looking at is daytime employment. We'd like to see at least three thousand people employed as part of the daytime population within a one mile ring of the site. Another key characteristic that we're looking for is household income. At Jack of the Box, we'd like to see household incomes in the area of at least sixty five thousand dollars or greater. And the last thing we're gonna take a look at is traffic counts. In front of your store, we like to see traffic counts of at least twenty five thousand cars per day. Now, as I mentioned, there are hundreds of different characteristics we look at, and those are just five. But hopefully, they give you a better understanding of some of the things that Jack in the Box is looking at from a high level. Let's go ahead and dive into the next thing, venue types. At Jack in the Box, our flexible construction plan allows us to build locations in a wide variety of traditional and non-traditional venues such as freestanding, which is our most common. Jack in the Box will also operate in end-caps. Keep in mind, we require an end-cap versus an inline because we have to have a drive through in almost every case. And that applies for pretty much any venue type that you're looking at with Jack in the Box. On almost every situation outside of something, say like a military base or an airport, we're gonna require a drive through. So just keep that in mind when you're taking a look at sites in your local area. The next type of space is that we look at are co-developed spaces. At Jack in the Box, we have almost a hundred of these co-developed spaces across the country. These are typically co-development that are built attached to a c-store, a convenience store, or a travel plaza. And keep in mind that these locations are full fledged Jack in the Box locations. They're not smaller. They're just like a full size store. They're just attached to the building. So typically, when you walk into the convenience store, or the travel plaza you can get in to the Jack in the Box and order in person, and then there's typically some general seating within the area. And the last types of venues are special types of venues. Things such as airports, stadiums, college canvases, and military bases. And these obviously are gonna be mostly non-traditional type of locations. But we'll take a look at those as well. We have a flexible footprint that fits a Jack in the Box in almost every space. So if you have something in mind, please reach out and let us know. The next thing I'm gonna cover is the real estate support we provide here at Jack in the Box. To me, the best thing about being a part of a franchise is the support you receive. And this starts with both real estate and construction, and we're gonna start with the real estate support we provide. We've done a a market point evaluation throughout the country. And we've mapped out the areas in which Jack in the Box is looking to grow. This matters because as a potential franchisee, we're gonna show you these types of market points or show you these market points on the front end of the process. You could take a look and see where Jack in the Box is willing to grow. Once we get through that process, you're gonna select the market points that are available, and those will be the market points you choose to grow moving forward. You're going to be assigned a dedicated real estate manager. This dedicated real estate manager is gonna walk you through the entire process of real estate. Whether you're looking to buy real estate, which you can own here at Jack in the Box, we we allow you to own the real estate, or you decide to do a ground lease. We have a team in place to help you with either one of those scenarios. So whether you're trying to buy or you're trying to lease it, we have sample leases, sample documents in place for that, as well as a team to help you evaluate the site. The last thing I'm going to cover is our construction support. Keep in mind, Jack in the Box has been building restaurants for a number of years and we understand what it takes to open a Jack in the Box restaurant. Why? Because we also open corporate Jack in the Box restaurants. So we're very in tune with the construction process. All of our projects are managed by a sophisticated software, and this software helps you understand the milestones and all of the steps that it takes to build your Jack in the Box restaurant. So whether you're evaluating sites in your market, you're looking at real estate, or you're wondering about construction, understand that Jack in the Box has something for everyone, and we're here to help you get your stores open, and we're here to provide support along the entire franchise journey. I hope this video was helpful for you. And if you're looking to learn more, please submit a form anywhere on our website and a member of our team will reach out to you directly. Thank you for stopping by.
Hi. Are you interested in learning more about the financial requirements to become a franchisee with Jack in the Box? My name is Kim Thompson, and I'm the franchise development director of Jack in the Box. In this video today, we're going to go over financial, real estate, and preferred site criteria requirements for becoming a franchisee for Jack in the Box. So let's start with what our financial requirements are. We look for a minimum liquid of five hundred thousand, We look for your net worth to be one point five million, and our franchise fee is fifty thousand dollars per location. Now a lot of folks ask, "Why do we require you to have five hundred thousand just to get started?" Well, a lot of those costs do occur before your store is operational. Such as training, staffing, real estate, architect and engineering fees, your initial franchise fee, and trade area survey analysis. Another reason is most loans do require you to have anywhere between twenty and thirty percent in liquid funds. Now if you're unable to meet that criteria, you might want to consider a business partner, your 401k, or home equity. Like most franchises, you'll also be required to pay an ongoing royalty fee. And here at Jack in the Box, our royalty fee is five percent of gross sales. We also have a five percent national brand marketing fund of gross sales as well. Now, what do we look for in site requirements for Jack in the Box? We look for your land size to be twenty five thousand plus square feet, We look for your building size to be anywhere from thirteen hundred and fifty square feet to twenty four hundred square feet. We look for the population to be ten thousand plus in a one mile radius. We look for the employment to be three thousand plus in a one mile radius. We look for the average household income to be sixty five thousand, and the traffic counts we look for them to be twenty five thousand plus on a daily basis. Now, what are some of the physical features that we look for when prospecting sites for our latest prototype? We look for a free standing out parcel pad. We look for an end cap. We look for ground lease and purchases, Also ingress or egress, visibility and signage, and we do require you to have drive through. If you need help finding the perfect location, our team can help you find the perfect market point with our real estate planning software as well. We hope this video gave you a better understanding of what the financial requirements are for Jack in the Box. If you have any questions or you're ready to get started, please submit any form on this website. And a member of our franchise team will reach out to you soon. Thank you so much, and we hope to talk to you soon.
Are you trying to figure out if you have to pay a franchise fee every single year Your business is in operation? My name's John and I work in franchise development for Jack in the Box. This is a pretty common question that we receive on a normal basis. So in today's video, we're going to talk about how often you have to pay the franchise fee, exactly how much it costs and when it's due. So what is a franchise fee? A franchise fee is essentially a license for you to own and operate a franchise business. This is the cost of entry for access to benefits like the franchisor's brand, existing customer base, business systems, real estate support and ongoing training. Franchising is a lot like having a driver's license. It comes with many advantages. However, your license can be taken away if you don't follow the rules. For example, some reasons of termination for your franchise agreement include failure to pay fees, selling unapproved products, not meeting food safety standards. You can learn more about renewal, termination and transfer of your franchise agreement in item 17 of our franchise disclosure document. So how much is the Jack in the Box franchise fee? AT Jack in the box. Our initial franchise fee is $50,000 for each traditional franchise restaurant plus, of course, any tax or other fees due to the collection of your payment. This initial franchise fee is due when you sign your franchise agreement, which is typically a 20 year contract that allows you to operate as a franchisee. Well, what happens if I sign up for multiple locations? If you're a new franchisee to our system, you must pay a non-refundable development fee when you sign your multi-unit development agreement. This fee is calculated as follows $50,000 for the first new restaurant, and then you'll make a deposit of $10,000 for each additional new restaurant. Both payments are non-refundable, and the remainder of your franchise fee, which is $40,000 per additional new restaurant, is due when you sign your franchise agreement. This is typically within 90 days of opening for each of your locations. Alright. So do I have to pay a franchise fee every year? In summary, you're only required to pay your initial franchise fee when you sign your franchise agreement. This is a one time payment that gives you a license to own and operate your franchise business for an agreed upon number of years. The only time you'll be required to pay this fee again is at the end of your initial term. If you decide to renew or extend the terms of your franchise agreement, keep in mind this is only how we collect the fee at Jack in the box. All franchise businesses are different. Be sure to read the franchise disclosure document associated with the brand you're interested in to learn more about how they collect your franchise fee. We hope this video gave you a better understanding of how often you're required to pay a franchise fee. A Jack in the box, we work with our franchisees every step of the way in order to get their restaurants up and running. If you have any questions, please contact our franchise sales and support team. Are you interested in learning the pros and cons when it comes to owning a franchise? My name is John, and I work in franchise development for Jack in the Box. In today's video, we're gonna take a look at ten of the most popular pros and cons that you should be aware of. Alright. So let's get started. Pro number one, proven business model. When you purchase a franchise, you're buying into a business model that has stood the test of time in the real world marketplace. So for example, at Jack in the Box we've been around since 1951, and that's more than seventy years of experience and history of thinking outside the box in the fast food industry and building a loyal customer base at the same time. Alright. So pro number two, brand recognition. So one of the main reasons a new business will fail is because of their lack of brand awareness in the marketplace, things like getting people to find your store, come to your location, or know what your brand actually stands for. So when you buy a franchise, you're tapping into a built-in customer base with instant brand awareness. And this allows you to overcome that challenge and then focus on other aspects of the business. Alright. So pro number three, training and support, when you franchise with a legacy brand that's been in the industry for a large amount of time, you'll typically receive in-depth training and support before and after your store opens. So at Jack in the Box, we have a comprehensive training program. We also have a Restaurant Support Center in San Diego. And by the time your training is over with, you'll be ready to open your doors and hit the ground running with everything you need to know to run your business. Alright. So another awesome pro to be aware of when you own a franchise is the marketing support that you're gonna receive. What franchisors do is we pull all of our marketing resources to run national and local campaigns to drive customers to your stores. At Jack in the Box, we use an unapologetically bold marketing strategy when it comes to running campaigns, doing local initiatives, our digital marketing, all of the stuff we do on social. I'm sure you've seen our television ads that we run. And, we also have an awesome mobile app that has loyalty programs set up to help you build a following in your local community. Alright. Pro number five, real estate and construction support. So finding the perfect location and someone to build it can make starting a business pretty difficult in the beginning. But at Jack in the Box, you'll receive a full real estate team and construction team, and we'll help you identify trade areas, find that perfect location or market point as we call it, and then we help you build it. So this makes the whole process a lot easier, and you'll receive access to a full team of individuals who've been doing it for a long time. And that just makes that process so much easier, especially when you're first getting started. Alright. So another pro you may have not thought of yet is the access to resources you'll have as a franchisee. Franchisors have massive buying power and the economies of scale that come with that. And you'll have access to it to negotiate lower prices on supplies, equipment, and other things that you need to run your business. So if you were just a single business working with a massive supplier, it would be harder for you to negotiate these types of discounts. Alright. So the last pro on the list, let's talk about multi-unit expansion opportunities. So you got your feet wet with one or two locations and you're ready to grow your business. We make it easy with franchising. As a matter of fact, at Jack in the Box our average franchisee owns and operates fifteen or more locations. Plus, we incentivize growth with royalty reductions and interest free loans for people who agree to sign up for three or more stores. Alright. So let's talk about the cons of owning a franchise. The initial investment and start up costs for a franchise can be high depending on the brand you're interested in. At Jack in the Box, we have three minimum financial requirements that all of our franchisees must meet. The first is minimum liquidity, $500,000, minimum net worth, $1.5 million, and then a franchise fee of $50,000 per location. Keep in mind you'll also be responsible for paying royalties as a franchisee. And at Jack in the Box, we have a 5% royalty of gross sales, along with a 5% marketing royalty that comes from your gross sales. Okay. So con number two limited creative control. An individual business owner has creative control over every aspect of their brand. And that's the logo, marketing, social media, stuff like that. However, as a franchisee, the franchisor has standards and guidelines put in place. And that's just to protect the brand and also create synergy between each location. Alright. So the last con on the list is franchise agreement termination. Franchising is a lot like having a driver's license, it comes with a lot of advantages, but it can be taken away if you don't follow the rules. There are a lot of reasons that can go into it and you can learn more about renewal and termination in item seventeen of our franchise disclosure document. I hope this video gave you a better understanding of the pros and cons of owning a franchise. At Jack in the Box, we work with all our franchisees every step of the way in order to get their business up and running. If you have any questions or you're ready to get started, just fill out any form on this website, and a member of our team will be in touch. Thanks, and have a great day.
To get started, submit any form on our website, and a member of our team will be in touch with you shortly. Thanks. Appreciate you listening, and hope to hear from you soon. Take care.

And this is just something that makes Jack in the Box stand out because a lot of the legacy brands, especially in the burger space, they can't offer you these markets like we can. Alright. So it would be a great new beautiful building that you could bring and share with your communities throughout North Carolina. Jack in the Box is looking for those who can commit to at least three to five restaurants within the market and then have the liquidity of five hundred thousand and a net worth of at least one point five million. The next brand we're gonna talk about is McDonald's. McDonald's has over thirty eight thousand locations in one hundred countries across the world. So there's probably not a bigger franchise, especially within the burger space than McDonald's. Everybody grew up with McDonald's. Everyone's heard of McDonald's, and they're a great option for that North Carolina market. The next brand we're gonna discuss is Whataburger. Whataburger started in Corpus Christi, Texas. They were a twenty four seven operation, and basically the size of their burger said, man, what a burger and that's where they got started. They have over eight hundred locations now throughout the country. They're franchising and looking to grow and recently announced they were coming to North Carolina. The next brand we're gonna talk about is Wendy's. Known for their square burgers and Dave Thomas. Wendy started in nineteen sixty nine and they're looking for franchisees throughout the country. As well as North Carolina. I would recommend stopping by and getting a frosty. They're a phenomenal product. The next brand we're gonna talk about is Burger King. Obviously, Burger is in the title. That's what they're known for. Burger King is open, across the country, they have over eight thousand locations. One thing I love about Burger King is that it's one of those brands that you smell before you see it. I can always smell the Burger King and smell the burgers, being flame broiled. It's a great concept and they're looking for franchisees throughout North Carolina. Alright. We have two relatively newcomers to the market in the Burger franchise space. We've got Culver's. Culver's already has existing operations in North Carolina and they're looking to grow. They're known for their frozen custard. They've got over eight hundred locations in twenty five states, and they're another great brand to take a look at if you're looking for a burger franchise in North Carolina. And last on the list is Freddy's. Freddy's has around four hundred locations and they're one of the fastest growing brands in the country. So if you're looking for a great burger franchise, Freddy's might be your your ticket, especially if you love their shoe string fries and their frozen custard. I hope this video was helpful for you. Alright. You come to Jack in the Box and you're really looking at multiple investment opportunities and you're saying, hey. What is the difference between a Jack in the Box franchise and a McDonald's franchise? Well, in this video, we're gonna walk through the similarities of each franchise. We're gonna walk through the differences in each franchises. And hopefully at the end of the video you have a better understanding of each brand. So let's dive right in. Alright. The first thing we're gonna look into in this video are the number of locations by each brand. Currently, McDonald's has over thirteen thousand locations across the United States and Jack in the Box has twenty one hundred locations across the United States. You'll notice that McDonald's has a nearly eleven thousand more restaurants than Jack in the Box, leaving plenty of white space availability for Jack in the Box to grow across the country. You'll find that you have the opportunity to grow Jack in the Box in many of the largest metropolitan areas in the United States, as well as key markets that you may be looking for. If you wanna find out more about those, visit our available territories page on our website. Alright. Number two, the investment requirements. The first thing we're gonna dive into is McDonald's investment requirements. They list that their liquidity requirement is five hundred thousand. That also matches what we require at Jack in the Box. The second thing we're gonna take a look at is the franchise fee. Currently, Jack in the Box has a franchise fee of fifty thousand and McDonald's has a franchise fee of forty five thousand. Keep in mind, you'll also be responsible for paying any ongoing royalty fees as a franchisee. Jack in the Box charges an ongoing royalty of five percent and a five percent ad fund fee or marketing fee and McDonald's charges a four percent royalty as well as a four percent ad royalty fee. Alright. Number three is business partners. Sent now, the most common way that we find that people meet our liquidity requirements if they can't do it alone is with business partners. This is very common across the industry. You'll find that people are able to pull talents together and you'll have somebody that may be really good at financing and marketing, and then they bring in a partner that's really good at, say, sales and operations. And so they combine those talents to make a really good group, for for, franchising. Another way that you can meet liquidity requirements is through stocks and bonds. Don't forget you can liquidate those and potentially use those as a source of liquidity. And as well as four zero one k rollovers. You don't find those a lot but as, you know, four zero one k's and the stock market has continued to grow, four zero one k's can be an option. There are penalty free options to roll over your four zero one k, but make sure, you do the research on that and then speak to an accountant, on that. Alright. Number four, real estate ownership. Another important difference between Jack in the Box and McDonald's is the ability of the franchisee to own the real estate associated with the restaurant. McDonald's does not allow franchisees to own real estate, where their location is built. All of their real estate is purchased and constructed, by McDonald's and then leased to the franchisee who was awarded a franchise license. At Jack in the Box, our franchisees can purchase, purchase the property. They can decide to do a lease on the property where the restaurants are located. Either way, we have an entire real estate team here, to help you out with the leasing or purchasing project process if you decide to go that route. Alright. Number five, menu variety. Jack in the Box and McDonald's offer similar menu items like burgers and fries and both are predominantly burger franchises. You'll find they both offer shakes, both of them have chicken sandwich menu items, and most of the locations are open twenty four seven. Now, where Jack in the Box kinda differentiates is that we offer our breakfast twenty four seven, meaning you can order our breakfast at any time of day, and that applies to our entire menu. We offer every menu item on our menu twenty four seven. So you can order any menu item any time of day, which is very distinct, in the industry. McDonald's does offer breakfast, but typically that does cut off at a certain period of time, in the morning for their, full menu items. Basically we also have other menu items that you won't find in McDonald's. We have tacos, egg rolls, fajita, bowl or fajitas, chicken wings, you just you name it. There's a lot of cool things, tiny tacos, that Jack in the Box offers. But both again, both brands are predominantly a burger, franchise, but Jack in the Box goes a little above and beyond with our other options like tacos and and my personal favorite, the egg rolls. So we've come to the end of this video. Hopefully, this helps you just understand each brand. McDonald's is obviously very large. They have a very large footprint. They are the largest burger franchise in the country. You know, Jack in the Box is the fifth largest burger franchise in the country. We would be excited to speak with you about growing Jack in the Box in your area and bringing the Jack in the Box to your area.
